Don't get sucked in by the price. No matter what you pay HostMDS it's poor value for money. As I write this my sites have been down for almost 3 days and I can't get any response from tech support. Not even sure if this woeful company is still in business. I'm in the process of transferring my domains to another host, and it can'T happen fast enough.

I had been with Hostingplex since 2004, with no problem. HostMDS "acquired" the Hostingplex customers; apparently they were willing to take on the assets (customers) but not the liabilities (honoring warranties) of Hostingplex. HostMDS had a tech meltdown and were in denial about it in mid-November 2008; my site was offline for over a week, yet they said repeatedly the problem had been solved. I gave up and migrated to another hosting company and asked for a refund for my 2+ years advance payment. HostMDS refuses to honor the Hostingplex refund policy to customers who signed up prior to October 1, 2008 -- in other words, not to Hostingplex's customer base.

I was hosted by hostingplex. and had very little to no problems at all. but hostmds aquired them , then migrated me. then had problem after problem. trying to get help was very bad. trying to get support did not help either. I ended up leaving this host because it was very unreliable.

I tried to get a refund after multiple outages and they refuse. This company is the worst ever. They will not be in business for long, don't waste your time (I switched to Telus) but my HostMDS account is still "active" because they refuse to refund my money. This morning I got this emai from them:

Dear valued customer,

Your service that resides on server14.hostingplex.com has suffered a RAID failure leading to multiple simultaneous drive failures. We could not automatically recover the data on these drives. We have sent all the drives to the best recovery specialists around and they are working hard to get all data recovered. We have also installed a new more powerful server with better hardware and it is waiting for the data from the recovery center.

If you have a site backup with you, please send us the backup link in ticket with subject “Server14 Restore” and we will restore your account to the new server at once.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused due to this crash. As it is a rare and isolated issue, it is taking time to resolve but we are working on it 24X7 and we expect some good results from recovery center.
We will keep you updated.

This is the WORST hosting company known to man hands down garbage in a stick. Back when it was Hostingplex before the total meltdown it was a pretty decent company with a substantial uptime and friendly helpful customer service. When Milienium Data took over in November 2008, almost a full year of hot steaming garbage occurred. I mean server hacks, server transfer issues, DNS configs, you name it, it happened to me. Recently today after 3 months of trying to call I was blessed with someone answered the phone for once. Boy was she a winner for technical support, not only did she degrade me, she also wouldn't assist me in transferring domains until I opened up a ticket with Opensrs.com Compliance Officer because guess what? HostMDS is not an authorized Registrar, they wholesale from Tucows. Something they don't mention in there contracts etc. Horrible service, horrible attitudes, with a you broke it attitude we won't fix it. Just plain out horrible to the point it made me cuss.

I guess that consolidation and better support never occurred? Because it's been over a year and I went running for the hills from you guys. Anyone reading this? Make sure you don't sign up with these guys. Shining example of never answering phone calls, tech issues, or resolving anything of any sort. Multiple server hacks, degradation in CSR, the only thing I give this company is there Cpanel, but since the website or servers never work good luck using it.

My Vistapages account was migrated to Hostmds. Vistapages owed me $210 for account referrals. The owner of Vistapages is now associated with Hostmds. I can get no response concerning the $210 owed me for referrals.

I'm giving this one star because that's the lowest one could. I opened my hosting account with VistaPages, which then became HostMDS. Since then, the service has been nothing but terrible. They wrote up whatever they felt like in TOS and changed it as they pleased. They would suspend my account now and then without any warning or explanation. Finally, they suspended my account saying I was doing too much processing. I agreed to take down my processes even though they failed to give me a more appropriate technical explanation. I shut down almost entire backend, and monitored my account for 48 hours that it was not causing any problem. But they shut down my account once again without a warning or explanation. When asked for a reason, they told me I brought down their server. That's neither technical, nor useful. A guy there named Mohit Sharma went personal on this and made sure that my account doesn't get reactivated. When called, their customer service reps hung up on me - twice. I couldn't get a supervisor to talk to me. So as of now, they have shut down my account and refused to refund my unused portion of the service (more than a year's fees).

So there you go. If you want to pay upfront for the worst service (technical and customer), go waste your money on HostMDS, or whatever else it may become in the future. If you still decide to take your chances, I suggest you keep a good backup of all your stuff, and have a backup plan in case they do what they did to me. And be prepared for feeling paralyzed when they hang up on you and simply shut you down taking away all your hard work in a snap.

I agree with the other posts. I had HostingPlex which worked flawlessly. They were very prompt and curtious with customer service. I've had nothing but problems with this new HostMDS company. My site was also down and slow for a long time. There was no space left on any drives for uploading. I ended up having to delete files off my own site in order to make room even though I had "unlimited space." They told me the problem was resolved about both the service reliability and space issues when I inquired. Now I am unable to upload any files today. I run a wedding videography business and HostMDS has cost me potiential clients (who need to see video samples). I recommended HostingPlex to other people who were looking for web hosting and now they are asking me why their email doesn't work, why their site is down, etc. One of them was someone seeking public office and was unable to check or respond to emails during October and November.

Now I cannot even check out the support section of the HostMDS website. Now I have to log in with an email address in order to see the forums (which state their bogus service logs) and email support. I never had to do this with HostingPlex.

Steer clear of HostMDS folks. Unless you don't need 100 percent reliable service.
