Netfirms hosts two of my sites, I am on the Business package. The server has not gone down and though I have only contacted support twice I have had no problems. They also have a web design service I will soon be trying. From my experience I am very happy with Netfirms hosting my websites.

I've been using Netfirms for some time now for personal sites, and on the whole I have found their service acceptable. They have, over the time I've used them, improved the features they offer. However, they still use outdated database software and PHP versions both of which can be seen as security flaws. They do now allow their customers to modify the PHP.ini file which at least allows some security concerns (such as global PHP variables) to be rectified by the user.

As another person mentioned on this page, support is far from helpful anymore -- it feels that half the time they don't even actually read the questions submitted before supplying answers that have nothing to do with the problem at hand.

There is also far too much downtime. Not living in the US or Canada, this downtime is very noticable. It appears to be a daily occurance now always happening at around the same time of day and lasting for an hour or so. This is a shame as with this downtime, I am forced to find a better host for my first business website because this regular downtime will lose me business.

I was a customer with Netfirms for many years, until their tech support went down the drain. They do server changes, and they don't tell you. They changed the server's file structure, as a result my content management system (which relies upon absolute paths) stopped working. I had to figure it out on my own, because tech support was useless. It took me weeks to figure out what was wrong. They kept telling me it was a problem with my CMS, not them. By then I had already moved my site to another host. One that lets me know of upgrades and changes. They also disabled my sendmail because my mailing list was sending too many emails, and they just forgot to tell me this. Again I had to figure it out on my own.

I have been very satisfied with Netfirm because of all the support they gave me. I lost my forums database and the last backup I had would not restore correctly. I contacted Netfirms and they helped me restore from my backup without charging me extra. Other than that Netfirm has amazing staff and I am happy to host with them.

I have been with Netfirms for more than 4 years now and have only positive things to say about Netfirms. I have 7 different websites hosted by Netfirms. I'm a happy customer and pretty much recommend Netfirms without fear or favour.

Netfirms has a very solid hosting plan and with the recent increase of traffic I receive they have been very helpful in making sure my site is online and making money! I am a very busy person so dealing with my website going down is not something I can afford and with Netfirms I am confident that my sites will remain online as they have for the passed year and a half. I can definitely say they are a good host with very good support and the price is just right.

I used to think they were pretty good, but this year they have turned awful. Their server reliability has gone down the drain, and there's no way to find out on their site (which is always up, even if YOUR domains aren't) what sort of problems they may be having. They also never contact you afterwards to let you know what happened, apologize, or in any way make things right. I have a bunch of domains hosted through them, and while what they offer in terms of services looks good, and it would be a pain to move all my domains, I think I'm going to have to.

Netfirms is awesome! Finding a good hosting company was difficult but since I have been with Netfirms I have been very happy. Support and service is great!

I've been using Netfirms for three years. Over that time, they've been getting better and better. They seem to be noticing how much their competitors offer for similar prices, and they keep beefing up their own offerings.

My main complaint is that--at least with the $5/month hosting--sometimes my data-driven pages don't come up. On some of my sites, I occasionally get a "too many users" message. Or, the page just takes a REALLY long time to load. Also, the default connection to MySQL is through "mysqlhost", not "localhost", so I keep having to change that designation on all my data-connected files before I FTP them. Not a big deal, but it requires me to copy the files from my test server to a "pre-publish" folder--where I make the host name change--each time I work on the site.

All told, when it comes to data-driven pages, Netfirms' server performance is not as reliable as that I get from iPowerWeb's $7.95/month plan.

That said, Netfirms is still a very good deal, and thus far, I plan to continue using them. Most of the time, the servers are fairly quick.

I have used this hosting once. They were better then host gator fast service. Some of there feature are bad but most are excellent. They take care of the customer. I really liked them. There customer service is excellent. If you are a n00b start with them and then use another host.

I have hosted 6 websites on Netfirms and I give them almost a 5-star rating - I'll take off a little bit for times when they were down, which wasn't too often in all the years I've hosted with them.

Their customer support staff (especially the evening staff) are very knowledgeable, supportive and friendly.

I recommend them to everyone, which is why I've hosted so many sites with them.
