iWeb has been providing reliable and scalable Internet hosting infrastructure solutions with its shared web hosting, dedicated servers, managed hosting and colocation services for over a decade.Founded by Martin Leclair and Eric Chouinard in October 1996 and headquartered in Montreal since 1998, the public company (TSX-V: IWB) has enjoyed a steady growth since its inception, currently employing more than 170 talented hosting specialists and operating three data centers in the greater Montreal area.
At the beginning, iWeb originally operated under the "Formation et Technologies Formatek" name. It started as a general Internet related services company to later focus on Web Hosting. It is in 1998 and 1999, as a result of mergers and partnerships with SMEs specializing in Internet solutions (Formatek, Infonet Services, WebDépart and JBCréation), that iWeb reoriented itself towards Internet hosting and server management to make it its specialty.
Operating in the heart of the Old Montreal from 2000 to 2004, close to the Multimedia City, iWeb survived the dot com bubble burst and was growing beyond all expectations. At the end of 2003, in addition to signing an agreement to enter the stock market, iWeb acquired a 10,000 square foot building and moved its headquarters into its spacious new office. Only two years later, after the acquisition of the Hosting Division of iNet-Interactif/Funio, in February of 2006, iWeb acquired a new 20,000 square foot building and built its second datacenter in St-Leonard on the Island of Montreal. In October 2007, iWeb announced the opening of a third data center of 29,000 square feet, in Nuns' Island near Montreal.
Today iWeb is one of the largest web hosts and Internet hosting infrastructures provider in Canada. iWeb's operations centres shelter a total of more than 59,000 square feet of latest generation data center and office floor space in Montreal and offers a wide variety of first class web hosting and server management services. IWeb is recognized for the quality of its customer service and its highly competitive prices.

I have been with iWeb for way too long. Can't wait for my contract to end up so i can get the hell out of there. Ive lost to much time writing to them in the last month. All i want is them to import data in my database. I would do it myself, but they dont allow shell access or import of .sql files higher than 4mb. Its been almost a week since i made my request. Been writing to them almost everyday since and they get back to me with stupid questions (like "what is the name of your database", which i stated twice in the original email and the next ones) or no answer at all. I'm really tired of this. To the iWEB team, you should stop answering all the emails from customers the same way. Stop referring people on your damn website (or the HUB), it's not always what we are looking for.... I'm moving all my sites to dreamhost asap. I also been with them for a while. Much more reliable, friendly and the support team actually does something. At least over there i can do everything myself without having to go through a team of lazy people. WAKE UP GUYS!! Dreamhost is much more cheaper also, faster and even on shared hosting you get many advantages other host can't offer. iweb is far far far behind. I have been with iWeb for 1 year, using their shared hosting. I have a small online business where all transactions are done online. For me, when server is down = no money. Do not trust their 100% uptime claim. It is a lye. Within the last 6 weeks, my server was down 3 times, a total of 12 hours. their customer support is very slow, no committal and does not really care. They do not solve problems quickly or respond to your inquiries. A typical example - last time I had to wait 20 minutes over the phone and another 15 over their chat session. To speak to a manager, i had to threat them to take my business away. If you are a small business, relying heavily on your website - do not go with iWeb! | |||

I hate this... I paid for 1 month, but was not satisfied because the server location is not what I need, I need US, but they give me Canada. I ask for a refund, but they just give me half of them, saying there is setup fee, which can't be refunded... But you guys said that there is no SETUP Fee in this package... here is a dispute in the paypal between they and I ================================ From Buyer - Eric Li9/24/2010 19:58 PDT I order a server from iweb, but when I install the software on that server and detect that it's a canada server, not a USA server, which I need USA server to be a VPN server for our company to watch Hulu, pandora, ABC in USA, so I ask a refund nearly 4 days ago, but iweb give me just $50 back, which is not the money back guarantee we agree on. and I hope you could give me a full refund, because you didn't mention that there is a setup fee in the server and so how can you see I benefit from this ? I set up a dedicated server with them. I ordered on a fri and the server wasn't online until mon or tues which was a little surprising but some hosting companies take a few days. A lot of paperwork in the beginning. After that, support was fine, server was up, they were helpful and I was pretty happy with the service. Prices are the best on dedicated servers. I was month-to-month, I cancelled at one point and they honored it without charging an extra month. I think their paperwork policies and their french speaking nature and thus weak English iritates people. But I thought they were nice and helpful enough and even offered me a discount to stay. I'll probably use again. It's not a scam and not the worst hosting company. Not at all. | |||

This company likes to rip you off. When you cancell your account before the due date, they still charge you for an extra month and it takes a month for them to cancell the account. There support team is the worst and very rude. | |||

The worst support team anywhere on earth. I'm a nice guy. I don't hate anybody. Except the iweb support staff. Ignored tickets, dropped live chat sessions, staff contradict each other, many speak poor English, often provide incorrect advice. Just horrible. | |||

People that say iWeb is great is because they are probably related to this hoisting company, the reality is that its extremely expensive, they are fast to Bill but extremely slow to fix or give support. That's it really, its expensive and if you need support they will play with you passing your phone call around the iWeb staff, they do not really care about your business, I don;t know why as they are not really that big, they are in canada but all their prices are in US, I don't know I think they just want your money. If someone from iWeb reads this and can tell me its not true I can send them all my tons of emails, hours of chat and long phone conversations that I have kept just in case. By the way if they improve they services / prices I will also write a good review, I don't want to destroy this company or anything, I just want them to be honest to their customers, but so far the SUCK BIG TIME. I think the guy above me is actually from IWeb hosting, so use caution.. notice the hint of french in his typing and the name philip.. Use caution, they are playing dirty too. I was just about to pick them as a host until this thread... budget hosting is just what it is.. | |||

Horrible support. I've been with LayeredTech and 1and1.com and needed a Canadian data centre. LayeredTech always answered tickets within the half hour or at least in a reasonable time frame depending on the urgency of the ticket (they have a priority selection). Expect at least 24 hours before your support ticket even get's looked at. If you offer the solution in a reply...your ticket goes to the back of the queue so you potentially added another 24 hours towards resolution. I really wanted to like them. I've had to hire outside support to handle things included in my Level 4 support. You should count that cost in when doing a price comparison. Consider how much it will cost you to have downtime while waiting on support. | |||

I'm on a shared server with iWeb and the site goes up and down every few months. First they had "some problems with the server", and recently I was "abusing the resources by using more than 2%". Is it my fault that site traffic went up? What killed me is that they sent no notice either time - both times I had to notice that the site went down, which took me over 24 hours in both cases. Lost revenue that far exceeded the entire cost of hosting. I have to move hosts now, which is NOT how I wanted to spend the next few days. | |||

I would like to reach out and get in touch with anyone who has been "raped" by iWeb in the past 5 years. I have been in contact with a law firm who is willing to take on a Class Action suit against the company to see that damages are paid in result of breaches in their terms of service, or loss of business due to stability issues with their servers and a massive list of other problems. iWeb is cheap for a reason. You pay less for your servers but you also get slow network and no customer support . It took them almost 4 days to set up my dedicated server (They have 48hr SLA), network lag was just unacceptable (2-5 sec. ping from US) and it took me 2 days to cancel the server. They also have the worst "30 days no questions asked 100% refund guarantee" policy which is: 1. It does not apply to the mandatory set-up fee (~50$, how's that for "try 30 days for free"?) 2. They don't refund your money and offer store credit instead. All in all it was one of the worst experiences I ever had with a web hosting company. | |||

The dumbest support I've ever experienced. Their english is poor and they express no respect or much care for their customers. I haven't even got my dedicated server set up yet - still waiting for 3 days since my credit card was charged and I sent them all the documents. I am still hoping to be able to review the technical performance once the server is up (one day), but already am thinking about canceling this unpleasing relationship and save my time and nerves out of being spent around. | |||

See here: http://blog.iweb.com/en/2009/09/ddos-attacks-under-control/3050.html Arrogant, unhelpful, always missing information that YOU are supposed to provide to buy themselves more time - or just out of sheer laziness. This latest fiasco with the DDoS attacks that they said are 'under control' and in fact are NOT has now been going on for more than 24 hours. Extremely slow connectivity, useless support and account managers that you actually have to CHASE to get an answer from. Save yourself some time - and money. Use someone else. And, if you want to save others the hassle, point them here. Link the heck out of this page and drive them into the ground. The world is fed up with arrogant, self-important jackasses like those employed at iWeb. | |||

I had a bad business experience with them. They did not set up my dedicated server for 15 days. I had to contact them to several times them to solve the problem they created. However, no solution. I had to cancel my account at the end. Just be careful. They cost me so much time. | |||

This host was my worst host ever. Apparently they offer a 30 Day money back guarantee. I did order a shared hosting package from them and i was very unhappy with there server speed was too slow. Also the support was very rude and it took me about 2 months before getting refunded!!!! DO NOT CHOSE THIS HOST!!!! | |||

These guys are jerks. Third class services with no technical knowledge of staff. I have been suffering since a month as my server goes down every 15 minutes. This hosting provider is quite good, it will be the 2nd time that we chose them in order to have domain and website. Price is not so expensive, cheap enough to have a website. Service is fast in terms of technical support. They also offer an online chat support which is amazing, since sometimes I don't like to call in for something. Speed of is more than average, but it depends on your ISP also, or else see it by yourself through what we have done here: http://www.caroleriendeaudesign.com . Features are great, since they give you a lot of tools. For example, statistics tool in order to optimize your website into search engine! Anyway, I hope this helped to anybody trying to figure out the best hosting provider... | |||
